Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Paranormal Belief

Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Paranormal Belief is based on the Coptic Church Paranormal Belief which is based on Christian paranormal belief. In the Christian it is stated, that is forbidden that believers attempt contact with malevolent spirits that pretend to be spirits of the dead, as stated in Deuteronomy 18:11 and that the dead should not have contact with the living as stated in Luke 16:19-31.

Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Paranormal belief is that this contact results in contact with spirits that are not of the dead but malevolent spirits which are deceitful and pretending to be such and as such are commanded by Satan and are named as demons, evil spirits and unclean spirits.

Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Paranormal belief is that these spirits are familiar with the recent dead and is the reason why they have knowledge with intimate name details, places, situations and circumstances. In the bible this is referred to as a familiar spirit, Isaiah 29:4.

It is believed by Christians that the plan of demon spirits to become interested in all that they do especially the wonders they seem to b e able to perform and thus affect people and move them away from their relationship with God.

Often those interested in the paranormal including ghosts and end up experimenting with other activities such as Ouija boards, tarot cards, astrology, fortune telling etc. The search for spirituality often results in delving deeper into the occult which results in an ever increasing downward slope into the occult.

As stated in the bible it is believed that Satan will have then "blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God." (2 Cor. 4:4).

Christians believe in God and in the Devil and believe that God is stronger than the Devil.

Christians believe in the rite of exorcism to rid those possessed by evil spirits of said evil spirits This rite must be performed by an ordained priest who is specially trained for this purpose.

God created everything that is perfect, and anything that Satan created is not perfect. It is quite clear then that sin itself would have been created by Satan, and not God, it is also then quite clear that God can do anything-God is perfection. God is love.

Satan is not.

The Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church is an Oriental Orthodox church which had its autocephaly recognized by the Ethiopean Patriarchate after the Eritrea independence of 1993. Autocephally indicates the ability to appoint their own head of church.

The church was prior to this granted it’s autocephaly by Pope Joseph II of Alexandria head of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria in 1950.

In common with all Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox churches, the Catholic Church and the Old Catholic churches this church professes belief in the seven sacraments of baptism, confirmation, eucharist, confession, the anointing of the sick and matrimony or holy orders. It holds that the first four as being necessary for every believer.

Traditionally only non-episcopal clergy may be married at the time of ordination and it is reserved for adult males. To clearly show that a bishop is a part of a synod, there must be a minimum of three bishops taking part in an Episcopal ordination.

The bond of marriage is able to be dissolved but only on the grounds of adultery.

To safeguard the faith members are discouraged from marrying outside of the church. Members who have a civil marriage ceremony are not regarded as being married in the sacrament. The church Canon consists of 81 books all of which are accepted by other Orthodox and Oriental Christians.
